traveling to Playa 55
coming from Mérida
The nearest international airport is in Mérida. It is our preferred destination option since it is so close but also because it is not as busy with line-ups at luggage claim, customs & immigration. Most common international connections will come in through Mexico City, Houston and Miami. We like to use the website (link) below to find the best flight information for our needs. It searches & compares flight options.
If you have access to a car, we are now only a little over 1 hours drive west of the White City thanks to the new highway connections.
For public transportation from Mérida to Celestún, Oriente buses leave Centro from Noreste Station on Calle 50 at 67 and take about 2 hours to get here. They depart almost every hour between 5 am & 8 pm. Once you arrive in the centre square of Celestún, one of the many Mototaxis will be happy to drive you to Playa 55 for a small fee.
Some guests choose to hire a taxi or private service for the journey from Mérida. Pricing varies between drivers, type of vehicle and amount of passengers. For more info please contact us.
coming from Cancún
The Cancún Airport receives a lot of international traffic and therefore, depending what time of the year you travel, it can become very busy through all the processing points. But because it is the main gate of entry for tourists to the Yucatan peninsular, it offers more direct connections world wide. It is located a little over 3 hours drive away from Mérida and you can easily rent a car or catch one of the luxurious A/C & TV equipped ADO busses which leave from Cancún Airport to Mérida Fiesta Americana on a regular basis.
Once in Mérida, please follow our suggestions above.
